Description

A deserted ruin on the Merwede river, which for centuries inspired stories and paintings, a place that attracted romantic souls, archaeologists and picnicking families: that is the Huis te Merwede. Or better said: what was left of it. The Huis te Merwede, built in the fourteenth century and made uninhabitable a century later by conflicts of power and flooding, was a castle-like residence. The ruin has now been restored. An information board tells its history while a path lets you walk around it.
